ANTAGONISTS—Molecules that block the ability of other molecules to produce their effects on a living system.

CHEMOTHERAPY—The treatment of a disease, such as cancer, with a chemical

GRADE—A pathologist’s rating of a tumor

METHOTREXATE— A folate analog (and antagonist) that prevents the replication of DNA, which is required for cell division

FOLATE ANALOGS—Chemicals whose molecular structures resemble the vitamin folate

ISOMERS—Two or more molecules that have the same number of atoms of the same elements, but that have those atoms arranged in a different configuration

OSTEOGENIC SARCOMA—(See OSTEOSARCOMA)

OSTEOSARCOMA (also called osteogenic sarcoma) —A type of bone cancer
